While working at the trust, we want to ensure that our staff have opportunities to step away from work and focus on their wellbeing. Be it through our excellent team-organised away days, to our trust set up activities to help our team improve their mental and physical health. Because how can our team deliver the best care to our users if they are not in the best form?

Firstly, on the 10th of October, we joined forces with Laughtercise to host a free 'Laughtersize' session. As part of World Mental Health Day, we worked with the organisation to host a free session open to all our staff who wanted to take part in their lunch break. Hosted both online and in person, the session provided a fun environment for our teams to have a giggle via 'brain buzz' games and some light movement exercises. The session aimed to give our staff 30 minutes to have a laugh and return to work with a different outlook on the day.

Are you looking for something more active than having a giggle? Our fantastic head of project management at the trust, Ian Putt, has partnered with our charity Heads On to bring a new running challenge. Ian and the HeadOn team are asking staff and the public to join them on their free '9-week couch to 5K course. The course is led by qualified run leaders and is open to all levels of ability, so there is no need to worry if it's been a while since your last run! The group aims to offer a friendly and relaxed atmosphere focusing on the enjoyment of running and the benefits to mental health and wellbeing. The course starts on Friday 21st October at Worthing Leisure centres running track, with a planned meeting time of noon. Can't make it? HeadsOn also runs a weekly run club on Thursdays at noon at K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley.
