We recognise the experience and expertise that Social Workers bring to our Trust and our Mental Health service provision and as such we are at the forefront of developing career pathways for Social Workers to join us and to develop their careers.
Apprenticeships
Working with Brighton University, we are now offering social work apprenticeships, with 3 available in 2021. This scheme allows people within the Trust who are not qualified to progress in their careers to become social workers. We intend to increase the number of apprenticeships available in Sussex and Hampshire in the near future.

ASYE
We currently offer limited places on the ASYE programme, which we run in joint provision with our local authority colleagues. We are looking to develop our offer in the coming year so that many more newly qualified Social Workers have the option to start their social work career here and undertake their ASYE year with us.
Training and Development
As a registered social worker, we can offer you a range of opportunities in terms of career progression and continuing professional development (CPD). We have had a rolling programme of courses related to social work delivered over the past few years, and annually offer social workers the chance to take social work courses at Brighton University. The success of the social work profession in SPFT can be seen by the high number social work colleagues that hold management/ leadership roles, such as Service Managers or Professional leads. We can also offer training to help you develop in certain specialisms, such as Mental Capacity, Perinatal and Older Adults.
