The Chichester Centre is a purpose-built hospital for people who need rehabilitation and treatment within a secure environment. It has three low secure wards, all with en-suite facilities.

People in our low secure service will have either committed a criminal offence or have significant challenging behaviour that requires a higher level of security than can be provided in mainstream adult mental health services.

Our aim is to help service users to understand and manage their mental health so that where possible, they can get back into the community.

No two days are the same; while we have structure and set boundaries, there is always a need to be able to adapt to what is a dynamic ward environment.

We are a patient centred service where we endeavour to involve our patients in service delivery and development. We also provide a full activity programme, including both therapeutic activities and access to leisure opportunities within the local community.

All teams are considered to be multi-disciplinary which includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, Matron, Senior Nurses, Occupational therapists and assistants, Health Care Support Workers, Social Worker and Psychologists.

The unit also has a working dog who attend the centre for 3 days a week and is fully integrated in to the therapeutic programme.
