The East Sussex Duty and Liaison Team are a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians who are skilled and experienced in working with children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis.

We carry out mental health assessments within an acute hospital and clinic settings, using our skills to formulate risk and care/ safety plans to enable young people in crisis to be supported within the community.  We also support young people who are in acute hospitals who are waiting to be transferred to a mental health hospital or discharge is delayed.  Our team also offer follow up's to young people after discharge and refer on for further assessment in CAMHS or signpost to other services.

We also provide support to children and young people who are waiting for assessments and a range of therapies. We do this by talking to young people and their network either face to face, by telephone or our virtual platform.

Our team are very responsive and we work shift patterns to offer assessments between 9-8pm weekdays and 10-6 at weekends and public holidays.

Our work involves liaising with a range of services who are all working towards helping young people in crisis to function to their optimum level.  The work can be challenging and busy at times but we are a friendly, highly supportive team who values staff well-being through daily huddles, weekly team meetings and supervision.
